The University of Iowa Museum of Art introduced the Senior Living Communities (SLC) program to help carry out its mission to facilitate the meaningful and significant experience of works of art for all Iowans.
The University of Iowa Museum of Art staff and docents, working with senior center administrators, create and present art programming and activities designed for residents of senior living centers. This is a service provided free of charge to senior living centers.
UIMA Docents lead one hour presentations at senior centers featuring art from a diverse range of time periods and cultures. Residents learn through a mixture of objects, videos, and hands-on activities.
