The UIMA's exhibition, Lil Picard and Counterculture New York, the first American museum retrospective of artist Lil Picard, debuted in New York City, has created quite the media buzz! Curated by UIMA Chief Curator Kathy Edwards, the exhibition on display at New York University's Grey Art Gallery in New York City opened on April 20 and has received tremendous media coverage, bringing the UIMA lots of positive publicity!

ARTnews featured the exhibition in its April 2010 issue! "Lipstick Traces in the Art World" tells the story of Picard and her work and features several quotes from Kathy Edwards, speaking about the art gifted to the UIMA back in 1994.

Elisabeth Kley of artnet Magazine covered the show and Picard's life in her article, "GOTHAM ART & THEATER". The post included images of Picard's work from the Lil Picard Papers of the University of Iowa Libraries.

Lil Picard and Counterculture New York was also highlighted in The New Yorker's "Goings on About Town" in the April 19 issue, and a brief description of the exhibition and a map are featured on The New Yorker website.

John Perreault discussed Picard in a post, "Lil Picard: Mother Dada," in his Artopia blog on Arts Journal, and The Brooklyn Rail's Valery Oisteanu, who knew Picard during her life, gives a personal perspective on the artist in the article "Lil Picard and Counterculture New York."
