UIMA to have replicas of famous Grant Wood paintings at Johnson County Fair

July 26, 2011

Put yourself in one of the most famous paintings in the world — Grant Wood's "American Gothic" — at the Johnson County Fair on Thursday, July 28. The University of Iowa Museum of Art will be at the UI's booth in Building C with a replica of "American Gothic" that will allow fair-goers to put their own faces in place of the famous couple.

In addition, a replica of Wood’s "Plaid Sweater," an exceptional painting from the UIMA collection depicting an all-American boy holding a football, will be displayed at the UI booth from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day. Fair-goers will be encouraged to take photos and send them to the UIMA for posting on that museum's website.
