University of Iowa News Release

The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) is looking for volunteers to serve as gallery hosts for the exhibition "Ere Ibeji: Yoruba Twin Figures from the Collection of J. Richard Simon," Sept. 2 through Oct. 17 in the Iowa Memorial Union’s Black Box Theater.

Gallery Hosts serve two-and-a-half-hour shifts Tuesday through Sunday during public hours and are responsible for greeting visitors, monitoring the art on display and answering basic questions about the exhibition.

A one-hour training session will be provided to train and educate volunteers about the exhibition. Volunteers should expect to complete 10 hours of service after training.

University of Iowa students can apply volunteer time toward the 10,000 Hours Show of Eastern Iowa, an organization that engages young people in volunteer service.

For more information about supporting the UIMA through volunteering, contact Buffie Tucker, buffie-tucker@uiowa.edu.
