University of Iowa Museum of Art changes name

Dear Museum of Art members and friends,

This weekend – April 1, 2018 – the University of Iowa Museum of Art will formally and legally change its name to the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art.

Last fall Richard (Dick) and Mary Jo Stanley committed $10 million to support the building campaign for the University of Iowa Museum of Art.  A portion of the gift came from the estate of Dick Stanley’s parents, C. Maxwell and Elizabeth Stanley.  In honor of the Stanley family gift and its extraordinary philanthropic history of support for the museum and a myriad of uplifting causes associated with the university, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, approved the university renaming the museum.

The name change this week will be the first step in a comprehensive rebranding process that will take shape as we move to the opening of the new home for our extraordinary art collection in 2020.

Please join us in celebrating this important milestone in the history of our dynamic, forward-looking institution.

With deepest appreciation for all those who have so generously supported the arts at this wondrous heartland university,

Jim Leach and the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art staff
