Book a Stanley Visual Classroom Tour or Study Visit
Tours and object study visits are available at the Stanley Visual Classroom —the University of Iowa Museum of Art's temporary spaces in the Iowa Memorial Union. Use the form below to request a gallery tour or object study visit.
The Stanley Visual Classroom is located on the third floor of the Iowa Memorial Union. Regular hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; and, Saturday and Sunday, 12–5 p.m. Hours may change during University breaks and holidays--use our website to stay up-to-date on our opening hours.
Guided and self-led tours of current exhibitions and the permanent collection are available to university groups, school groups, community organizations, and the general public. It typically takes two weeks to schedule tours, so please submit your requests in advance.
The Stanley Visual Classroom includes a space that can accommodate object study visits for groups up to twenty-five people. This space is available for use by groups visiting with an academic purpose—such as university classes or students and faculty members visiting on their own—for supervised study of objects not currently on display. Email Assistant Curator Kim Datchuk (email@example.com) or Curator Joyce Tsai (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information about object study visits.
K-12 Educators and community groups are encouraged to make use of the Stanley’s Education Collections for up-close art experiences. The Stanley School Programs bring original works of art from Africa, India, and the Americas—everything from graphic novel and comic art to Hindu icons and African masks—into classrooms all around Iowa. The Education Department’s collection, made up of around 800 objects, is carefully curated by our team to reflect the strengths and diversity of the Stanley’s permanent collections. Email Assistant Curator of Education Brady Plunger (email@example.com) for more information on hands-on experiences for community groups, or follow this link to schedule a presentation today!
