First Friday: February 2016
5:00 pm–7:00 pm
118 E. College St., Iowa City
Party for art at the next University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) First Friday reception at FilmScene! UIMA First Fridays provide an ideal chance to usher in your weekend, enjoy the work of Claudia McGehee, and mingle with other art-enthusiasts.
Claudia McGehee is an illustrator and author of several award winning children’s picture books. Her creative inspiration comes directly from nature, especially the regional prairies and woodland, and the Pacific Northwest, where she grew up. McGehee pairs her main illustration medium, scratchboard, with vivid watercolor to create earthy, wood-cut like images. “Cozy” is a collection of recent scratchboard illustrations that invoke feelings of comfort through familiar cold-season surroundings.
First Fridays are free and open to the public with complimentary popcorn and a cash bar.
Consider becoming a UIMA member! Courtesies include home delivery of the UIMA magazine and a personalized Membership Card, which entitles you to free entry to the Figge Art Museum and reciprocal admission to other art museums around the country.
First Fridays for the 2015-2016 season are generously sponsored by FilmScene, H. Dee & Myrene Hoover, and John Menninger.
